About the Institute
Jyukankyo Research Institute was founded by Hidetoshi NAKAGAMI in 1973. Jyukankyo means living environment in Japanese. Regional development and rural community planning have been the initial core themes. In the wake of the oil crisis, its research area has expanded into ranging from energy and environment related issues to housing & construction and social problems. No matter what the research subject, the institute strives to study problems in order to enhance the quality of life, and continues to work with this in mind. Rapid scientific advances in recent times are causing major changes in society and in the economy, especially confusion in many areas of life. The institute was created to seek ways of transforming technical changes into benevolent influence on the daily life of average people. It is essential that researchers have the will and ambition to tackle a variety of research themes. Jyukankyo staffs have developed this versatility. To have the expertise of a specialist, but at the same time to have the broad vision of the generalist.
The theme of our work is to help create a "Decent Life" for everyone. Jyukankyo has established itself as having the skills and experience required for serious study of this issue.
